Six60

Blending soul, rock, dubstep and drum and bass, their music is as dynamic, versatile and unexpected as their back story. Extended singer/songwriter jams incorporate dubstep sections as bridges, hard rocking guitar work duels with robust synthetics and thunderous low end bass over vibrant percussive rhythms, and in both voice and instrumentation infectious melody consistently shines through.
They’re a band with songs that make just as much sense when listened to with headphones strapped on, as they do in the heat of a capacity concert moment. And with Tiki Taane as co-producer on their self-titled debut album, they have married what they’re known for with where they’re going. Leave your preconceptions at the door and let Six60 show you the world as they see it, one song at a time.

Kora

Since their inception in 2002, ‘futuristic funk soul brothers’ Kora have made something of a career out of defying any kind of easy musical pigeonholing. While nominally a funk/dub collective, the band’s sound also encompasses experimental electronica, psychedelic freak-outs, hard rock and soul. Their legendary genre-mashing live performances prompted one critic to call them ‘mystery musical superheroes’. But what else would you expect from a band whose influences include Iron Maiden, Grace Jones, Faith No More and Prince?
An unstoppable force, the Kora brothers and ‘token white guy’ Dan McGruer look set to consolidate their position as one of NZs foremost live acts in an increasingly crowded field. Currently recording their highly-anticipated follow up to their 2007 debut, 2012 promises to be Kora’s biggest year yet.

Tim Livingston has been a beat mixer for the last decade. Form the real GC (Gizzy City) his sets are always sun drenched, dropping a distinctive blend of stripped down riddims, tropical bass, funky hooks and futurist R&B. Tim Livingston will be teaming up with Olluss over summer to create a combo with added shake & pop, drawing on styles from across the board. Keeping it real you, know the deal!
